JJ>Talk seems to be increasing of a possible Clinton resignation if the
JJ>current allegations surrounding his sex scandal prove true.
JJ>My question is this: if there is strong evidence that he is guilty of
JJ>obstruction of justice, witness tampering, suborning of perjury, etc.,
JJ>and does in fact resign.... are those charges for which he could be
JJ>prosecuted criminally after he leaves office?
Yes he can. The statute of limitations will not have run if he resigns and
although he had resigned, resignation would not absolve him of his legal
liability. Gore could pardon him, however unlikely that would be since it
would be tantamount to political suicide based upon the mood of the country
right now.
