        Check your modem Command Summary for the following commands:
        &A1  which for my modem, = ARQ results codes enabled--Default
        &M4  which for my modem, = Normal/ARQ--Default.  This enables
error control (ARQ).
        I have a USR Sportster 14,400, but your commands may NOT be
exactly the same, but should be similar.  You might want to try adding
these commands to your modem initialization string, and see what
happens.
