subject: Regs AX AH AL

WZ> I'm doing this with the REG command. But then when I
WZ>read the register I have to split them back apart from AH
WZ>and I'm doing it by converting to a string and using right$
WZ>or left$ and then doing a VAL and this seems awfully
WZ>awkward to me. I'm using PB3.1c with the original PB3.0
WZ>manuals and I must be missing something.
Try this:
        DEFINT A-Z
        AX = &H1776
        AH = (AX \ 256)
        AL = (AX MOD 256)
        PRINT HEX$(AH)
        PRINT HEX$(AL)
Have fun with it....
