I built a 12.5" truss tube dob about two years ago, I used the
intricate handmade wooden truss pole clamp blocks of the obsession style.
They work very well, they are repeatable so as to need very little
collimation tweeks and hold the tuss tubes almost perfectly on place to
attach the upper tube assembly during assembly. My poles are cut to exact
lengths and are not numbered. These are of course from David Kreige's book.
I'm almost sure that by now something even better has been designed. I'm
going to need to attach 1" poles to the top of a much lower profile
wooden mirror box for an up comming 16". So bombard me with links,
pictures and ideas :-)
