Not _that_ strong; the cheapest of VCRs can mangle it without effort. It's
also pretty stretchy; I'm guessing that would be a Bad Thing. Video
recorder designers go to considerable lengths to regulate the tape tension,
since this affects the length of the track scanned by the heads, and the
frequencies and timing recovered from the tape.  And in video, timing is
everything. (If you think content matters, turn on your TV!).

But that's just my opinion; I could be wrong.
