Hohum.

(A) Were the DOJ to set such a precedent the there'd be flocks of pigeons
following Boeing etc home.

(B) The pigeons would alos probably come to roost in Washington itself as a
sh*tload of the corruption etc has been of the "buy our helicopters
etc & we'll spend lots of money defending you & thus flying your
people over to the US for seminars etc where the family can come too &
we'll just have to show you interesting things near Orlando while paying
for your hotels etc".

The world of arms dealing has always got a political dimension & thus
it is ipso facto corrupt.

e.g. we will sell you helicopters & spares at a knockdown price if you
allow the following US oil companies to make a killing selling your oil.
The fact that the oil companies have contributed to the "campaign
funds" of the pols making the offer.....is......interesting.

i.e. Were anti-corruption to be brought seriously into arms dealing (inc at
a state to state level) then.....the sh*t would hit the fan all round.

& like I say amrs dealing is ipso facto corrupt right down to the local
level e.g. "if we order this weapons system it means jobs in my
constituency & thus re-election for me", "if we gold plate
the contract with Mil-Tech co then they'll have lots left over to help with
my/my party's campaign funds" etc.etc. i.e. arms esp large scale
weapons systems are bought by governments so the
"Governmental-Industrial interface" has always been.....close.

& that's before you get 3'rd countries looking in the arms deals of
others & the national security implications of that. i.e. Has the US
been spying on 2 of it's closest allies over matters of national
security/defence? That'll go down well in both London & Riyadh.
