Now this may be normal, but (here's from the fe log):

I might need to make the log more verbose, but afer it created the outbound 
echomail packet, FE created a directory called OUTBOUND.00A instead of using 
the outbound mail directory.  Because of this, the packets never go out, or so 
it looks like.

I'm definitely closer...
