Replying to a message of Ross Sauer to Bob Ackley: RS> I had a relative who kept trying to recruit me into Amway. RS> Amway is run like a cult. RS> My relative got out of Amway, after losing almost a thousand $$$ in RS> those "motivational" tapes and stuff. When I first arrived at Offutt in 1972, a captain in another office was an Amway rep, and he'd recruited a couple of other fellows into the system under him. I bought a couple of things from one of the reps - I think one of them is still around here someplace, a metal cleaner of some sort IIRC. It was my opinion then (and now) that Amway is a thinly disguised pyramid scheme; but I have to note that it has survived serveral lawsuits accusing it of exactly that, so apparently under the law it isn't. FWIW in more than 30 years I have not seen an Amway rep or any Amway products. --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:300/3) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 11/331 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 187 140/1 226/0 249/303 SEEN-BY: 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 SEEN-BY: 396/45 633/260 267 285 712/848 800/432 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 SEEN-BY: 2320/105 5030/1256 @PATH: 300/3 14/5 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
