Yeah, it's kinda nice to be back to using the VI editor again as well. As to politics I'm pretty much totally disgusted with all of the politicians and the American people for not holding them accountable. How are we the same people who overcame two imperialist nations simultaniously bent on world conquest in WWII and yet we cannot route out Osama bin Laden? As to the truth slowly leaking out about the Bush administation and the data mining and domestic spying programs, it's all about what I'd anticipated. The lack of outrage, accountability and understanding of civil liberties on the part of most Americans is truely beyond my abilty to understand. Once upon a time I believed the U.S. Constitution really mattered. Now I've seen civil liberties first slowly eroded by the so called "war on drugs", and now much more quickly by the "war on terrorism." Fear sells and the American public is buying like never before :-( There is some really good news on the green energy front that might actually free America from dependence on foreign oil however the lobbyists and naysayers will likely kill that as well. It would be a fantastic boost to the U.S. economy and world prestige harkening back to the days when 400,000 Americans worked together to put 12 men on the moon and return them safely to Earth. Sad to say, I don't think it is any longer possible to "win" the war in Afganistan . That's my 2 cents worth. Prove me wrong, I'd be delighted. ...
