MM>Self Goverment as in how the labour party gave Scotland their own parli
MM>in the United Kingdom, and left the Scots to manage their own matters?
Semi-autonomy could be an option to consider under certian
circumstances if it were offered. It could either be viewed as an
interim step between union and separation or possibly a trial to
consider the feasibility of separation, again, with great dependence
upon the circumstances.
There are a lot of potential outcomes and motivations should a
strong desire to investigate the option of self-government ever present
itself. Consideration, for instance, could be a vehicle to halt a
particularily radical move by Washington away from traditional values
placing pressure on that government to consider the implications of
heading off in a direction wholely disfavorable to a state or group of
states.
This need not be viewed as either a bad thing for other states or
constitutional government. In fact, it could work to strengthed rather
than weaken the relationship between the states and the federal
government.
