| subject: | Re: Direct executive control of spending, too |
From: "Dave Ings" Oh please, stop trying to bait everyone. I'm no fan of Bush for the most part but IMHO you bring no credit to your point of view with these fishing expeditions. According to the NY Times story http://tinyurl.com/zlef4 the majority of state Governors already have this power, so it's hardly a stretch to suggest it at the federal level, not to mention that Clinton apparently found it much to his liking prior to the US Supreme Court invalidating it. Given how out of control federal spending is in the US, and given the propensity to piggyback pork on "must pass" bills, I am inclined to agree with Bush on this suggestion (modulo any constitutional concerns). -- Regards, Dave Ings, Toronto, Canada "Phil Payne" wrote in message news:440c848f{at}w3.... > http://today.reuters.com/news/articlenews.aspx?type=newsOne&storyid=2006-03-0 6T173232Z_01_WBT004898_RTRUKOC_0_US-BUSH-VETO.xml > > > Really has learned from Hitler, hasn't he? > --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 379/45 1 633/267 |
