All of this was a contrived way to say that I had unknowingly given
"vassal" a new meaning and had used it in a story with this new
meaning, thinking that it was perfectly valid. I'm sure that we all have
used words in strange new ways. Getting published could be how new words
and new definitions of existing words get into the language.
