However,

2.  Suddenly paying off a large balance could be the result of receiving a
large sum of money....  and terrorist cells typically receive irregular
large sums from their mentors.

On the proverbial third hand,

3.  A terrorist receiving a large sum would be highly unlikely to use same
to pay off his credit card balance.

So,

4.  Maybe I somewhat agree with the article after all.
