| subject: | a poem for single payer |
I married Tonia as soon as possible specifically to get her to the doctor's office. When we got there, a few hours ago, they turned her away. Their computer said she was blocked, and she would have to call the business office. I cried. Tonia doesn't want me to get into medical details, but she has a condition that's very painful, and we know what she needs to stop the pain. We don't want to go to an ER, because the bill would be much higher, with no coverage or price reduction from my Walmart worker's insurance. We want to take her to my clinic, during the evening hours, during the immediate care clinic hours. We did that, and they refused to examine her. I cried. I took my glasses off, I took out my handkerchief to wipe at my tears. She will call tomorrow, and use my health savings account money to pay an old bill, and go back tomorrow evening, and get her exam, and get her prescriptions. But it sure would be nice if we had a system, such as universal single payer, so we don't have grown men crying at the doctor's office, crying almost in despair. I love my wife; I want her to relax, without this nagging pain, pain that almost makes her cry, when we know what she needs. Tonia consoled me, assured me she'll take care of it, tomorrow. - from daily kos --- WWIVToss v.1.50* Origin: Inland Utopia BBS (1:218/109.0) SEEN-BY: 3/0 633/267 640/954 712/0 313 620 848 953 @PATH: 218/109 10/1 261/38 712/848 633/267 |
