In a message dated 08-17-14, Daryl Stout said to Ed Vance: Good morning Daryl, DS> I was told that the computer (a Dell 611) is so old, that the DS> battery is obsolete, as is the computer. I doubt that. Not knowing the year the PC was manufactured I doubt that it is so old that you cannot find a replacement battery for it. As long as the battery is a button cell you can obtain one from a well equipped watch maker. Even some markets have a computer shop and they will be very happy to sell you a cell as long as you know the type of cell needed. I have saved a letter from Jim Holsonback regarding those batteries: ___________ This is a snip from that letter: Just in case you want to try and "do it right" , here's the key to the numbering (BIR) of those 3v Lithium coin cells- - the first two digits should be the diameter, in mm, and second two digits are the thickness in mm/10. So the CR2032 are 2cm in diameter, and 3.2mm thick. ___________ Have a nice day, Holger ___ * MR/2 2.30 * No, Windows IS NOT a virus. Viruses DO something. --- PCBoard (R) v15.22 (OS/2) 2* Origin: Coming to you from the Sunny Aland Islands.
