I have no idea. I was under the impression that it used a message numbering
scheme and keeps track of it with newsrc. If speed isn't of essence you
might use souper instead of vsoup and see if the dupe problem goes away.
That might help pin things down.

I use Sqtool for newsgroup and soup2sq for email and that takes care of it
for me. FWIW The B is binary format and the u is usenet format. If you are
using UUCP just to get newsgroups to and from FTN echos in squish format,
you might try Sqtool as it is much simpler and is designed to work with the
souper family of programs.
