Have you checked to ensure all your RAM is present and correct ?

Win98 sounds injured - a re-install seems indicated;  does 98 have 
a "restore" facility,  or is that a NT `feature' ?  A fresh set of 
component proggies should return your usual services to you.

Tell you what - there's a great bunch of gurus on WIN95 who will 
guide your finger to the right spot - Brendon often contributes 
there, too....
