MC> Now I just have to save enough to go! Have [you] any idea how much
MC> is for a ticket?
According to the 1994 edition of Birnbaum's Guide to Disneyland,
admission is $30 for 1 day, $55 for 2 days, and $75 for 3 days. Call
Disneyland Guest Relations at 714-999-4565 for an update.
MC>BM> Popular taste in singing styles then was very different. Compare
MC>BM> Snow White's singing voice to that of recent Disney heroines and
MC>BM> you'll hear that they are now much like popular music.
MC> Oh yes! Very different! I think it was better then than now, it was
MC> more "innocent" look at the dresses the girls have, and the
MC> themes... don't you agree? Now, I'm not saying that they are not
MC> good, but, I think I liked it better then... :) I must be feeling
MC> old :))
I think Disney has tried to express the same level of _contemporary_
acceptability throughout their history. However, as contemporary
standards of dress, behavior, and music have changed over the years,
Disney has been shooting at a moving target. I also believe that they
have been getting better (despite a serious dip in quality that bottomed
out about the time of "The Black Cauldron").
Please don't feel old just because you still like things from years
past. Most of us formed strong opinions on cultural matters like music
and dress at an early age, but that's nothing to be ashamed of--and
neither is change.
MC> What I am going to see, if everything goes well, is El Jorobado de
MC> Notredam The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I was VERY surprised that they
MC> already have it here in Mexico! Usually they take a year or 6 months
MC> to bring it, but now, they are bringing new movies fast!!
I think this reflects several things: the growing size of the Latin
American market, the growing market in the U.S. for Spanish-language
programming, and the need to have the movie available worldwide to tie
into merchandise sales at the same time. One of the things that makes
the Disney empire so profitable is the interconnectedness of their
different products. The movies refer to the stuffed toys, the toys refer
to the Park attractions, the attractions refer to the music recordings,
etc. You can't do this as well if any of the elements are missing.
MC> I can't wait 'til October, to buy Toy Story, I LOVE that movie!
That is indeed a great film--saw it twice, myself. Once to marvel at the
quality of the computer imaging, and once for the story. (If I had more
time and money, I would have seen it a third time for the Randy Newman
music!)
MC> GREETINGS FROM MEXICO!
Y salutaci¢nes de Tennessee!
