I don't know the differences between these units, so it might come in
handy.  Isn't Barcus Berry more of a high end company?  I saw a credit
for their pickups on an ELO "Out of the Blue" L.  P.  for example, some
years ago.  What differences can you point to between aphex and 802
sound, and can you explain these on some technical bassis? 
Maybe someone has modeled these devices for computer DSP.
