What you are seeing is persons who are very much involved in searching and
who want to help others. However, searching for one's heritage is not easy
when the States mandate laws that keep persons from knowing certain
information. Adoption brings sealed records; thus secrets. Secrets on both
sides. To invade these secrets and to find answers is not easy for alot of
persons. Sometimes it means "learning" just where to find the needed
information. Many persons involved in searching - learn how to find
information; and in order to keep the "doors" open for the many others
that will begin a search; these searchers try to protect their means
of search. Without thinking; some persons are so excited in how
they found out information; that they reveal this on this echo; hoping
to help others with their search. Because no one wants these doors
closed; it is very important not to discuss certain details of a search.
This does not mean that the information is obtained illegally. As for
myself; any information that I have obtained has been through legal
methods; yet, methods that should not be "aired" on line. This is
what persons get "uptight" about; not searching. We all want to be
able to help persons find their heritage; and so we all - at times-
get a few "ruffled feathers" when persons tell the hows and whys.
Some of the hows and whys are okay to mention; such as the particular
laws in the State of birth; how to get non identifying information from
a agency, etc but any other means; should not be aired. Why? Anyone
can have access to this echo. State agencies; lawmakers; "high" paid
searchers and others SOMETIMES are the reasons so many persons hit
BRICK WALLS. I think persons are merely protecting others; and in doing so
are a bit TOO "huffy" in getting their point across.
THIS IS JUST MY OPINION; I am sure there will be others to feed your
confusion; even some who will continue to promote contention.
