subject: who is the USR distributor in Austr

-= Pete Replied to Bill Grimsley about: who is the USR distributor in Australia =-

G'day Bill

PL> The current Austel ones are single board versions; I wonder if a
PL> modified US code will work on them...

PC> The same thought crossed my mind as well, Anyone know for sure.

BG> Yep, we've already tried this, and I'm sorry to say that
BG> although both the Jan 23 and April 29 US/Canada SDLs can be
BG> hacked to load into Austel Couriers, the modems refuse to
BG> respond to any external command with other than an "OK".

Bad news, BTW On another note you may have noticed me asking about the
&G command and how it's not listed in the online help in my Courier
even though i'm running the hacked US code, anyone running the Dec 95
code on a domestic US Courier want to check if the &G command is
listed in the online help, If it is it adds weight to the fact that
the earlier SDL's were indeed 'one size fits all' and the special Aust
versions are all crap or at least they were.

     Pete.
