Working in security since 1994 I can only recall a handful of times I
didn't work on Christmas Day (as well as New Years, Thanksgiving, etc).
Many places are closed and require extra coverage. Generally married
people get dibs on the day off since they have family and friends. We single
people have no friends or family. :)
With me Thanksgiving/Christmas are movable feast days, and generally
celebrated a day before or after.
