Steven Satchell reported how to *reliably* reproduce this problem in a post
to comp.dcom.modems earlier this month. He will incorporate the tests for
an update to EIA TSB 38 which gets contributed to the development of ITU-T
Recommendation V.56ter.
One of the tests Steven Satchell has recommended is a *one hour* connection
test, which would have caught most of the problems 3:800/1 has experienced
using M34F's, Motorola Lifestyles, Hayes Optima 288's and a Multi-Tech
MT2834ZDX has had with Spirit Vipers, Banksia Myfastmodems and Maestro
144M's.
