 Yes Jason, it would be a wise and cheap investment to put the caps on even 
with a manual speed control. If you ever run the car on a bench without them 
you will at times see your front steering servo start twitching or even the 
servo for the speed control do the same from the static generated by the 
motor brushes.  I used to run my cars at the Line of sight limit without them 
and they would go crazy sometimes. you can even put them on a stock 540 with 
great results in transmitter, receiver performance. hope you enjoy the
