We had home movies (my father brought a camera and projector in 1947. I
still have the Revere projector somewhere. The camera disappeared years
ago.
At the time, around 1951-53, the station was only on the air a few hours
a day. And those were a morning local news shows (pre-Today), and a
afternoon cooking/homemakers show, etc. There was no real network programming till
the afternoon. At least around
There were only a few hundred sets in town at the time and we were the
largest city in the state, 100k+ in the metro area.
There may have been some soaps on but my mother listened to those on the
radio.
After the morning news program, about a half hour or so, the tv sat
unused till the afternoon shows started. The cooking/homemakers show was the
number one afternoon show.
By the time I was maybe four I learned that everything on tv wasn't real
and happening at that moment somewhere in town.
