I found this book mostly a waste of money.  The only real benefit I
found was towards the end which covered the "Networking Technology".
These sections seemed to present everything much better than the Novell
workbook (this is what I'm making my comparison against.)
What really bothered me the most about the whole book was all the
analogies and story-telling.  I.E., Park Place Hotel, Netware Utility
Belt, etc...  All this probably took up 500 pages!
For CNE's migrating to the Netware 4.1 from 3.12, I found the
"The CNE Update to NetWare 4.1" by Michael G. Moncur, published by
Sybex, Network Press, to be a really good book.  It presents everything
much better than the Novell workbook.  The only thing the book is really
missing is walk-thru examples on creating objects and assigning rights.
I mean, it covers everything, but doesn't explain what to select,
step-by-step, like the Novell workbook does.
Anyway, I've read this book twice (not due to it being difficult to
understand) simply because there is so much information to absorb.
What's really cool about the book is that each chapter has a review
section accompanying by ten (10) practice test.  All answers are in the
back of the book.  A diskette is also included with a Windows-based CNE
testing program.
I just bought the NetWare 3 to 4.12 CNEQUIZR program, between Novell's
Big Red Test, CNEQUIZR, and the book's practice test, I'll be ready for
the Drake test soon!
