DS> I have recently started using Microsoft Office, including
DS> Microsoft Word 6.0 for windows. Everytime I open it up
DS> I get an error message. First it asks me what I want to
DS> convert from, then it tells me that the document template
DS> is not valid. Once I hit ok (or so what) to those two
DS> messages, everything works fine.
BD> I'm guessing, but it sounds like you have the original Word 6.0
BD> release. It was pretty buggy. To confirm, pick the menu Help>about
BD> and check the version number. Later versions are 6.0a and
BD> 6.0c. 6.0a is a downloadable patch and fixes the major
BD> bugs. 6.0c is a complete replacement which requires
BD> obtaining a set of diskettes from Microsoft. The shipping
BD> charge for the diskettes is about $5.00.
I checked, I have version 6.0a.
Would it matter that I have changed the location where my edit files
are kept? I wanted a separate directory away from all of the program
files.
Something is telling it to open a document on startup. I just cannot
figure out what is doing that, and correcting what it is asking for.
