Hi Jean,
I'm sorry to hear of your loss, I love animals very much and even though
I came from the E.M.S. field I really would rather work with animals, as
a matter of fact I am debating about whether to go for Veterinarian or
for Marine Biologist(If any body has any information on these fields I
would appreciate their input)As for "Baby" I can understand how you must
feel, Although I have never had a horse of my own I do love them very
much as a matter of fact my boyfriends mother owns 4 horses and they all
have very unique personalities. Recently one of the horses was shot
twice once in the head(missing the brain thankfully) the other went into
one of the front legs. He is recovering his name is "Andy" and his is a
character. I love animals But this one I am sure picks up on that, he
will follow me around and he would not come over to the fence where I
was calling him to one day because he didn't get his goats milk when the
kids did(my boyfriends mother raises goats too) so he was sulking behind
the barn. So after calling him and calling him I decided to go visit
the other horses. Andy went to the other side of the barn and saw me
petting another horse with that he whinnied then when I started into the
barn he met me inside the barn. What a jealous character he is. Andy is
also an orphan his mother died about a year ago or so and my boyfriends
mom had to raise Andy on goats milk(That's why he wanted his goats
milk). Have you ever heard of a horse being such a character? And is it
possible that they can tell our character and that we care about them?
I also work as a volunteer for the California Marine Mammal Center and
although I know animals will sometimes die no matter what we do, It is
very sad for me when they die, I had one Harbor seal pup that I had been
acting surrogate mother for since she came in, first she had a bowel
obstruction then she was doing great, then an indegestion problem so
they went back to formula instead of fish, then she was doing better
again, finally she became very lethargic and was put to sleep, she was
very ill and had neurological problems on top of it. So, Jean although
I have never lost a horse, I do love animals and I do mourn their loss
very deeply, especially after working with people most of my life, I
sometimes feel animals appreciate our care and our love more than most
humans appreciate human kindness. To this day I miss my harbor seal pup
her name was, "Miata"-I miss her nuzzles, and her whiskers tickling my
neck(For this reason, the head Vet for the Marine Mammal Center thinks I
would prefer Marine biology-plus I am a scuba diver) But no matter what
I decide I will always love all animals.
My sincerest regards, Marianne
