My husband is a hypnotist and I suggest you tread carefully - you may
want to check the credentials of the people involved. For people with
traumatic childhoods my husband usually suggests that they be
hypnotized by a competent psychotherapeutic professional or that such a
professional be present. We learned this from experience when he
brought up so much trauma for me that it split my personality to some
extent. He felt very bad about that - he was just doing it for me to
lose weight or some such thing.
I've also been hypnotized in a group 8 or more years ago where a woman
did try to implant memories in us that were not our own, to make the
group work more cohesively - or so she said. I had a very bad
reaction, emotionally, to that.
I can relate to where you are coming from as I also have a year of my
life that is blanked out completely. But I do hope you will proceed
with EXTREME caution and make sure that you have present the help you
need and some support.
The good thing is, though, hypnosis can't make you do anything you
really don't want to do and which is against your code or your
standards - if they try to do this, people just wake up spontaneously.
I've used hypnosis for some things and received good help from it too.
But everyone who claims to be qualified isn't always as qualified as
they should be, either.
