Our system has rules for when the kids get taken away. Once you've crossed
the Rubicon it becomes a matter of competing value systems as to what the
criteria should be.

Oh, and Cuba shows far far less respect for the parent-child bond than the
US does. Its not like Elian is going to be taught just exactly what his
father wants him to believe or that Elian will be able to live with his
father till adulthood (unless Castro makes an exception).
