Mitch,
-> I thought that PA was rather unfriendly WRT registration,
-> permits, city attorneys suing gunmakers for making guns, etc.
Not at all. You're thinking of Philadelphia, a tiny anti-gun pocket of
PA. Luckily state pre-emption law prevents Philly's anti-gun politicos
from denying its citizens the rights that all other Pennsylvanians
enjoy. As to that lawsuit, so far all they (Philadelphia city
administration) do is talk about it, and I've heard that Philly's mayor
Rendell has been quietly told that if he SERIOUSLY has ambitions to be
governor, he better forget about that lawsuit. Pennsylvanias
constitiopn affirms the right to keep and bear arms much more strongly
than the federal constitution, stating that "the right to keep and
bearms arms in defense of one's self and the state shall not be
questioned. Pennsylvania is a "shall issue" state for firearms carry
licenses, and over 600,000 Pennsylvanians have a license to carry a
firearm (sure a license shouldn't be necessary but that's another
battle). That works out to one license for every 8 households or about
1 in every 30 citizens has one. that's one reason our crime rate is so
much lower than NJ's! Although I'm not a hunter, I believe Pa. is the
biggest deer hunting state in the nation, in terms of licenses issued
and deer taken (and we still have far too many)!
