| subject: | Tail Lights replacement fun. |
This past weekend, I needed to replace several bulbs that were not working on the Durango. I had one headlight out, one lift-gate light out, no reverse lights, and one side with no brake lights. The headlight and lift-gate lights were replaced with no trouble. It turns out the other two (brake light and reverse lights) issue were not light bulb related. After doing lots of troubleshooting and reading stuff on AllData, I decided to try swapping the passenger tail light (the entire unit) and try it on the driver's side. Presto - the brake light was then working. Turns out, the circuit board in the tail light housing itself is bad. No problem - $25 on Ebay for a replacement on the way. The reverse lights not working was not a buld, fuse, or relay. It seems to be a sensor in the transmission ($15 part - but a major headache to replace). I have decided to just leave that not working as it isn't worth dropping the pan and value body in the transmission to replace that part. At least I won't get pulled over now - with all the driving related lights working. - Mark --- WWIVToss v.1.50* Origin: http://www.weather-station.org * Bel Air, MD -USA (1:261/1304.0) SEEN-BY: 3/0 633/267 640/954 712/0 313 620 848 953 @PATH: 261/1304 1 266/512 140/1 261/38 712/848 633/267 |
