Yes.
I use Linux ( the Red Hat distribution right now, although I have used the
Slackware distribution in the past)
I have used the previous warp ( have not tried 2 4.0 yet though ...)

I don't want to start an os war but on the kind of platform you are talking
about, Linux will be significantly faster.

X ( the X window system ) is neat.
However, running X will slow Linux until it is almost as slow
as OS/2 _3.0._ ( since I have not yet tried the latest warp, I cant
really compare Linux to it )

For Linux, yes.
For Linux + X, marginal.... try adding another 16 megs of ram,
a faster cpu ( eg pentium or faster ) and a S3 video card if you want to
be happy with Linux + X
