Obviously, the memory of your mom and the hard times still  
rests heavily on your mind.

Think of it this way.. She would probably want to know that  
are doing what makes you happy, and not stressing out.  So,  
give yourself the permission to take care of yourself the  
right way and not cut corners by not eating healthier.

You need not suffer. The deaths still play heavily on your  
mind. But allow yourself to be happy. Give getting healthy a  
chance. Taking care of yourself does not diminish their  
memory. The loved ones whom you miss would probably want see  
you do well.
