No I didn't. I said on a Rockwell modem, it could probably/possibly be
done, depending on whether the parallel status outputs assumed the same
functions under parallel (internal) firmware as serial (external). I said
that on HIS modem, it couldn't be done, probably. The Active is afaik a
generic Rockwell, so what I said stands.

As you will recall, I also offered to give the original respondent the
pinout details so he could try to wire up a front-panel himself.
