Wright had been offered the honorary degree on the recommendation of "committees of the faculty" (big surprise), and had been invited to come to the University's commencement exercises in June to receive the honor. Yesterday, the University dis-invited him. A mea culpa here - - Last Saturday, I wrote to you that "...Klahn is still at least aware enough of his surroundings that he realizes Wright is radioactive and that publicly supporting Wright's worst statements will be harmful to Obama." I was wrong. I badly misoverestimated Klahn. He's dumb as a post. I'll be careful in future and try to not repeat my error. Re: Wilson and Klahn swooning over Wright's positions: In his presser on Tuesday, Obama said this about the "ridiculous propositions" set forth at Wright's Monday freakshow at the National Press Club: "His comments were not only divisive and destructive, but I believe that they end up giving comfort to those who prey on hate and I believe they do not portray accurately the perspective of the black church." [and] ". . .then there are no excuses. They offend me. They rightly offend all Americans. And they should be denounced. And that's what I'm doing very clearly and unequivocally here today." But Wilson and Klahn don't agree with Obama that Wright's positions rightly offend all Americans. They are still arguing for Wright, even as the Obama camp (including Michelle, ma belle) are fervently hoping the whole Wright controversy will simmer down and quickly go away. But hard left guys like Wilson and Klahn won't let it go away. Their politics is more in line with Wright's than it is with Obama's. Heck, the Repubs don't have to attack Obama - - guys like Wilson and Klahn are doing it for them. As the old song goes, "It's delightful, it's delicious, it's de-lovely." - - - JimH. ... "The fact that he is my former pastor I think makes it a legitimate ... political issue." - - Barack Hussein Obama 4/27/08 ...
