You're usual confusion at work.

No the "they" referred to the Muslims and Buddhists, etc. to
which you referred in the message to which I replied.  As opposed to the
Christians (without reference to denomination) who did settle the continent
and establish the USA culture.

In a conversation, pronouns can and do refer to groups and names of things
and people under discussion, and are not susceptible to analysis outside of
the context of the conversation.  Maybe this is part of the problem you
constantly seem to have in maintaining a stream of thought throughout an
ongoing discussion.  You either don't read or don't remember prior
statements in the conversation and respond to each message as though it was
the first message you've ever seen.  That would account for the number of
times one has to tell you questions posted by you in response to message 8
were included in messages 3 and 4 of the same thread.
