EV>I knew the P meant Parallel and the S meant Serial. EV>I didn't know both xATA HDD's were IDE. Thanks! EV>I've always thought a Parallel connection was the way to go. EV>I'm thinking about back in the early days Printers were RS-232 Serial, EV>but later most all Printers used a Centronix Parallel connector. EV>Until USB came along. EV>SATA Hard Drives, I guess, must be faster than PATA Hard Drives? EV>Even though the signal flow is Serial, which I always thought was EV>slower because of Parallel Printers becoming more popular to buyers. For many years Parallel was faster then serial but advances in serial communications soon passed parallel in speed. During my second career after retiring form the Navy I worked with Medicla Monitoring equipment. I was involved with seveal installs and wiring ao those DB-25 conectors was a real pain. I rembember when Hewlett Packard perfected theri High Speed serial data net the wiring was quick and easy. The Medical staff loved it because each room patient monitor became a remote of and other room in the net and the doctor on his rounds could check back on extra critical patients without returning to their room. --- þ SLMR 2.1a þ Typo Tom Strkes Again* Origin: Check Out Doc's QWK Mail Via Web BBS > DocsPlace.org (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 109/500 116/116 123/5 52 57 140 400 500 789 124/5013 5014 140/1 154/0 SEEN-BY: 154/10 701 702 203/0 226/600 227/51 101 201 229/426 230/0 249/303 SEEN-BY: 261/38 1466 280/464 5003 320/119 322/759 342/11 423/120 633/267 280 SEEN-BY: 640/384 712/620 848 770/1 3634/12 @PATH: 123/140 500 154/10 280/464 712/848 633/267 |
