I deliberately stuck two 150mm dia pieces of glass together at one point
using pitch.  To separate them, I soaked them overnight in mineral
turpentine, and then used dental floss (lots of) as a wire saw between the
pieces.  It took half an hour or so, but eventually they came apart.  It
was then an easy job to remove the residual pitch using lots of turps and
some rags.
