I originally had a Dynalink 1414VQH (with the Rockwell chipset) and this
wasn't terribly reliable it used to disconnect at random intervals
(normally 95% of the way through a download) and for some reason it hated
uploading anything. So I returned it and it was replaced with a later
model Dynalink 1414 (with a Cyrus Logic chipset) and this was extremely
reliable I never had connection problems and up/downloads were reliable.
Unfortunately I sold it recently to replace it with Dynalinks V34+ modem
and now my troubles have started all over again. The first modem used to
stop sending data for 30 seconds or so every few minutes which was
extremely frustrating when chating or trying to send files to someone
(downloads seemed ok), the second modem wouldn't upload using zmodem at all
and very slowly using xmodem but text and downloads were ok, the third
modem is currently working ok but there have been some mysterious
disconnects but I have found no pattern to these yet. Maybe I should have
waited for the second generation V34+ modems to come out before discarding
my reliable 14kbps Dynalink modem.
