General news
 ----------
What happened!?!?! Why such a sea change in the consist of events
for June!?!?!
Nothing 'happened'; it's the normal seasonal shift of schedules at
many event sponsors. It's common to arrange events around the school
year, Sep/Oct thru May/Jun. A lot of activity you got used to so far
in 2003 take a rest in the summer.
Recessed, for example are the monthly lectures at the Amateur
Astronomers Association and Hayden Planetarium, certain meetings at
Amateur Observers Society and Amateur Astronomers Inc, observatory
sessions at Columbia University and York College.
Both colleges are busy in the summer for special programs for
families and teachers. Assorted workshops and labs are operated, for
which advance signup is required. Do check the websites at
www.astro.columbia.edu/~observe and natsci.york.cuny.edu/~yco. Note
that the Columbia address is changed as at mid May 2003.
We welcome this month many new stars in New York's galaxy of home
astronomy. They include talks and starviewings at Alley Pond Park,
Queens; Voohrees State Park, New Jersey; and Jenny Jump State Park,
New Jersey. These sessions were newly provided to NYC Events, mainly
thru our NYSkies booth at the Northeast Astronomy Forum on 17-18 May
2003. They should be specially useful for NYSkies's 'outer' members.
I included in the initial posting of NYC Events a lecture at SUNY
Stony Brook, based on a reading of its website that talks are held
every month. A couple readers noted that farther down on that page it
is noted that there are no talks in Janaury, June, Jult, and August.
One clarification about continuing activities. I put them on the
