SD{at}> P.S. If you're not an amateur radio operator, you won't get the joke.
The Rettysnitch looks worse than the Wouff Hong. I went through that
"ceremony" at the ARRL Great Lakes Division Convention in Cleveland,
Ohio back in 2007...and let's just say "a good time was had by all".
The 2 "requirements" to this "secret society" is that
you hold a valid
amateur radio license (class doesn't matter), and that you be a paid up
member of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL). One does get a real nice
certificate afterwards, though. Unfortunately, the "division or national
conventions" where these are held are few and far between in Arkansas,
where I could take part in this again. We are lucky to have 6 hamfests a
year.
But, those tools that are used on poor operators on ham radio, can just
as easily be "applied" (pun intended) to miscreants in the echoes.
For more info on the Wouff Hong, go to:
http://www.arrl.org/ham-radio-history
and click on The Wouff Hong toward the bottom of the page. A closer
picture of the Wouff Hong and Rettysnitch are at:
http://www.arrl.org/groups/gallery/fwd-180
Just looking at the pictures, I'd think the Rettysnitch would hurt
more!!
On another note, years ago, there were a couple of Sysop and user
groups in central Arkansas, but I think I'm the only BBS left in the
state now.
