| subject: | Someone with an E5 please answer |
While listening to Lewin Edwards Pete heard:Someone with an E5 please answer G'day Lewin LE> I've just received an E5 modem with a fried resistor in the DAA. LE> I KNOW that is the only faulty component because the unit works LE> if I short the resistor out. LE> Does some VERY nice person want to take a look at their modem LE> for me and tell me what value the resistor R56 is ? It's LE> towards the corner of the board, nearish where the line and LE> handset jacks are. Mine has had its identification toasted off LE> and is open circuit. You might find this resistor is only a sacrificial component to protect the modem from power surges and as such an exact match isn't required, though having said that you'd be better using the correct value, BTW i had a Bit Blitzer 1234E that use to eat these. LE> Note : This is a SmartModem V.32 E5. It's in the older style LE> metal case, not the newer plastic case NetComm use these days. LE> Also, does anyone know whether the 12000bps V.32turbo feature LE> was automagic on this model (if fitted), or had to be enabled LE> explicitly ? I think you had to explicitly enable it with ATB14 and when you did you lost the lower speeds, ie 300, 1200 etc. -=Pete=- --- OMX/Blue Wave v2.12* Origin: Gates of Hell (3:713/914.16) SEEN-BY: 50/99 620/243 624/300 625/100 711/409 413 430 808 809 932 934 SEEN-BY: 712/515 713/111 317 611 615 618 620 676 700 888 914 714/906 800/1 @PATH: 713/914 615 888 711/808 934 |
