Any amount of mulch will keep the soil looser, making it easier to
pull entire plants out by the roots. Unless your bindweed makes you
feel like a 98-lb weakling, it is still cheaper and ultimately easier
to yank your foes. There's absolutely no chance of spraydrift harming
your roses, and when you've gotten the roots, you know that monster
weed won't be back.
How BIG is your rose bed that handpulling isn't an option any more?
