Not that the plutonium squeeze of fission bombs is exactly subtle, but
there's something even more single-minded about laser fusion research
-- getting many high-energy beams to converge at once on a tiny "fuel"
pellet. We have to go through elaborate contortions to do what stars do
with sheer gravity.
