I agree that a lot of aspects of modern "micro"computers have wandered
off from the objectives that were held a decade or two ago. Sometimes I
wish that someone would re-invent a true micro machine - one so small
and simple that a human being could easily understand *everything* that
is going on inside it, without being isolated behind multiple layers of
interfaces.
