This is not a bad characterisation of the average politician, independent
of party afilliation. To claim as you seem to that one party has a lock on
disreputable behaviour seems an odd stance to me.

Mind you, it's easy to throw rocks at politicians. I do believe in the
essential truth of the saying "people get the government they
deserve". The political class would behave differently if the populace
held them to a higher standard of behaviour (but in general we don't).
