subject: Timed modem calls - warning confirm

Shit, and other (un)suitable remarks.

It is advised by Alcatel that Telstra have requested a quote for S12 to be
fitted with echo suppressor tone detection, keyed directly into the billing
software. i.e. Telstra actually are preparing to set up exchanges to time
charge modem calls seperately from voice data calls on the same lines.

Source direct from an Alcatel executive, with firsthand knowlege of the quote.

If this gets past parliment, I'd reckon we've had it. Local calls bye-bye,
onward to the brave new world of four times the current data call revenue,
exactly as specified in the "it ain't so" planning document
Stewart Fist got.

Put it in the mill, and see if we can win this one. We better..
