| subject: | Re: Using BW with POP email? |
-=> Bill Wolff wrote to All <=- BW> I figure this might be a long shot, but has anybody figured out a way BW> to use BlueWave directly with your Internet POP email account(s) BW> directly without going through any special gateways? Bill, In the same way as you need a comms program with BW to send the mail packet to a BBS, one could write an application which takes the BW packet and "uploads" it to the Internet. Rather than actually uploading the packet anywhere, such a program would unpack the BW packet and then send mail via SMTP to your mail account and any newsgroup articles via NNTP to your news server. Then it would create a new BW packet with any new newsgroup and mail messages (using NNTP & POP3 respectively to get the messages). I'm not sure such an app. actually exists, but FWIW I wrote an app. that collects articles from nominated newsgroups into a BlueWave packet. I never fully completed it since the world changed too much and most people want to work with "normal" Internet software, not packet oriented like the old BBS systems. As well, lots of us actually process our mail and news postings while we are still online (so no offline reader is really needed). Rob. ...
