Usually in a 486 or better box also.

I'm not trying to start an arguement or sell you on WinModems, but
Winmodems do have place in the grand scheme of things. They are PnP
cards, insinuating W95, NT, etc. I have one in this 486 Dos / Win3.1
BBS box that works great. Not everyone lives their life at the C:\>
anymore, they are pointing, clicking, double clicking and dragging
merrily and productively along their way. Times are changing &
pre-configured computers with all the peripherials & hardware installed
as well as W95 are hot ticket items.
I got my Winmodem from USR in the Wide Area Field Trial test for free.
It now runs happily as a clam at 33.6, accepts & recieves faxes with
WinFax, -and- is due to be software upgraded shortly to x2 when the code
is released. I've thought about selling it, but hey, it works, it was
free, and if I decide to pull it, it won't take up much room on the
shelf. The only thing the Winmodem won't do that my 2 Courier DS
V.Es x2 and one Hayes K56Flex wont do it respond to a Dos terminal
program...but you know this. Now maybe Clint does.
Later...
